Ecommerce SEO Services: What We Do for Our Own Stores and for Clients

We run our own webshops in four countries and do SEO for client catalogues. This is what ecommerce SEO services should include, what we learned on our own stores, and when Vistobi is enough before you hire an agency.

If you are looking for ecommerce SEO services, you are probably comparing agencies, consultants and software at the same time. We sell two of those, so read this with that in mind.

We are Somos Media. We run our own webshops under the Melini brand in four countries, we look after client sites such as Agrider's machinery catalogue, and we built Vistobi, an SEO app for online stores, because we needed it ourselves. This page is roughly what we tell store owners on a first call.

What ecommerce SEO services usually include

Whatever the provider calls it, the work is the same list:

ServiceWhat it means in practiceHow often
Ecommerce SEO auditIndexing, duplicate product and filter URLs, speed, structured data, Merchant Center errorsOnce in depth, then a short check every month
Category and product pagesTitles, descriptions and real text on the pages that already get impressionsEvery month
Google Merchant CenterDisapproved products, missing GTINs, feed titles that nobody would search forEvery week
ContentBuying guides and articles that link to the products they mentionA few pieces a month
Structure and internal linksWhich categories exist, how products are grouped, what links whereWhen the range changes
ReportingClicks, orders and revenue from search, not only positionsEvery month

Ecommerce SEO packages mostly differ in two things: how many pages get touched each month, and who writes the content. When you compare offers, ask for both numbers. A package that says "full ecommerce SEO" without them is hard to judge.

What we learned on our own stores

Melini: one brand, four countries

Each Melini shop has its own domain, its own currency and its own keywords. The same product is searched for with different words in Hungary, the UK, the US and India, so keyword lists cannot simply be translated. We research each market on its own.

The other lesson was less exciting. Four stores means four Search Console accounts, four Merchant Center feeds and four sets of rankings to check every week. That routine is the first thing we automated, and it later became Vistobi.

Agrider: five languages, about 410 machine pages each

Agrider is a machinery dealer with a catalogue in English, Hungarian, Romanian, Polish and Ukrainian. That is roughly 2,000 indexable pages. You cannot hand-edit 2,000 pages every month, so we set rules for titles and descriptions per machine type, and we built a Search Console check into their admin so the team sees which machine pages Google has not indexed yet.

The lesson for any large store: you do not need to fix everything. You need to know which 20 pages deserve work this month.

DogDietLab: our own product, several languages

DogDietLab is our own app, and its content runs on automated SEO processes in several languages. It taught us where automation helps and where it does not: software is good at the first draft and at noticing problems, and a person who knows the product still has to approve what goes out.

Our first suggestion: start with Vistobi

For most small and mid-sized stores we suggest starting with Vistobi before paying an agency. It does the checking and drafts the fixes, and you decide what goes live.

You connect Search Console, Google Analytics and Merchant Center once. On the Growth plan you also connect your WooCommerce store or a store built on Base44, so sales show up next to search data. After that:

  • Your Today page shows a short list of fixes, each with a suggested title, description or text next to it.
  • With the free Vistobi Bridge plugin, an approved title or description goes straight into Yoast or Rank Math.
  • Rankings, Google Shopping and up to five competitor websites are watched for you.
  • When you change a page, Vistobi compares its Search Console clicks for the same number of days before and after the change, so you can see whether it helped.
  • A weekly email tells you what moved.

One honest limit: today Vistobi reads orders from WooCommerce and Base44-built stores. If your shop runs on another platform, Search Console, Analytics and Merchant Center still work, but you will not see sales next to each page.

Plans start at €49 a month. The store connection, with orders, best sellers and revenue next to each page, comes with the Growth plan at €99 a month, because it is the most complex part of Vistobi. There is a 7-day free trial and a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you only want a free ecommerce SEO audit first, run a category page through our free SEO checker. It is a quick first look, not the full audit, but it shows the obvious problems in a minute.

When to hire us instead

We tell store owners to bring in an agency when one of these is true:

  • You honestly will not find an hour a week to read and approve.
  • You sell in several countries or languages, like Melini and Agrider do.
  • You have thousands of products and need rules, not page-by-page edits.
  • You are redesigning or moving platforms, where one wrong redirect can cost months of traffic.
  • You need new category pages and buying guides written, not only fixed.

Then our ecommerce SEO team takes the whole job. The first month is an audit with a written list, ordered by what we expect to bring orders, and the fixes that block indexing or Merchant Center. After that we work through pages and content every month and report orders, not just positions. We use Vistobi ourselves, so you can see every change and its date. Our Agrider case study and Melini case study show what that looks like in practice.

Seven questions to ask any ecommerce SEO agency, including us

  1. Have you run an online store yourselves?
  2. Can you show results in orders, not only traffic?
  3. How many pages a month does the package cover?
  4. Who writes the content, and who checks that it is right about the products?
  5. Do you handle Google Merchant Center, or is that extra?
  6. If we stop, who keeps the content, the accounts and the data?
  7. What will you not do? A good agency says no to some things, such as buying links.

If the answers are vague, keep looking.

Frequently asked questions

Software like Vistobi starts at €49 a month. A consultant usually charges by the hour or day. An agency charges a monthly fee that depends on the number of products, countries and languages. We only quote after an audit.

A store has far more pages that look alike, products come and go with stock, and Google Merchant Center and Shopping results matter as much as normal rankings. The job is less about writing articles and more about category pages, product pages and feeds.

Our free SEO checker gives a quick first look at any page. Vistobi's 7-day free trial runs the full checks on your connected store and Google accounts.

Better titles on pages that already rank can bring more clicks within weeks. New category pages, content and a new market usually take a few months.

Search Console, Analytics and Merchant Center work with any store. Order data is read from WooCommerce and Base44-built stores today.
